Fitness is fast becoming a way of life. Whether it is to get the figure you’ve always wanted or just to make yourself stronger, exercising is the best way to achieve it. But not all people can afford a gym membership or their own treadmill; that’s why jogging outside has also become a popular exercise. Not only do you burn fat while running, you get to breathe fresh air and improve your blood circulation. With the emergence of GPS watches in the market, jogging outdoors has been greatly improved.

One thing that the GPS watch does is to take note of different information at the same time. Speed, distance traveled, and altitude change, all of these can be monitored by a GPS watch. If you have a GPS watch, you don’t have to remember landmarks and what time you passed it; GPS will calculate your average speed and adjust accordingly to tell you if you’re improving or not. This is perfect especially for athletes who need to record their speed and time. You can also check if your heart is getting stronger because GPS watches also monitor your heart rate so you don’t have to stop and check your pulse, which can get in the way of jogging.

There are also a lot of people who want to share their progress with other people. Many GPS devices have a data recorder which you can connect to the computer. You get to download graphs and see how fast you are exactly at a certain point, in a certain altitude. This is also perfect for coaches and judges who need to compare progress data among athletes.
But before you get excited and immediately buy a GPS watch for your own, you should first know what kind of watch is best for you. There are many GPS watches that can be too complicated; and there are also a lot that have basic features but are in no way less in quality, features, and affordability. These are perfect for beginners. There are also types of GPS watches that are more suitable for those who exercise to reach a certain goal, like recovering from surgery or disease.

Having a GPS watch is efficient, it also helps you keep track of your progress and get motivated. Programming it to a certain goal or just letting it keep track of your achievements everyday will push you to do better the next day as you try to outdo yourself and reach new goals. But remember that GPS watches are just accessories to help you with your goal; what can make you reach it is your dedication and perseverance. If you’re equipped with those, you won’t even notice that you’ve already achieved your goal and are moving on to a higher level.

Hearing about missing children is always a sad thing. Unfortunately, though, there are many cases of children getting lost in public places or being picked up by strangers. But with the emergence of GPS, parents can be more assured of their children’s safety because, now, they can track their children’s location.

The Global Positioning System, or GPS, technology was first used in cellular phones. Now a device, which can be attached to a child’s bag or clothes or even worn on the child’s belt as a pager, has been invented. GPS watches are also available nowadays, where the GPS function is included along with other features in the watch. Parents can program the GPS device to send information of their children’s location for, let’s say, every 15 seconds or so. You can even program it to send you an alert every time your child goes out of an area you indicated in the system, such as the neighborhood, school, or even the playground. Some units even have a panic button that children can push whenever they are in trouble. This will send an immediate alert to you and to the GPS tracking service so that even the authorities can be notified of the trouble.

Although it is good to have a cellular phone or watch with a GPS system, it is also good to attach a small GPS tracking unit in your child’s clothes. If, for example, your child got kidnapped and his phone or watch is thrown away, or if your child got lost and left his phone someplace else, then the GPS tracking device that is attached to his clothes can still send signals to your GPS device and you will be able to track him down.

Smaller children can have larger units which can be placed in their backpacks and can work up to 2 weeks before needing to be recharged. As for older children or teens, GPS devices can also be installed in their cars. Not only can parents track where they are, they can also see their children’s driving habits. Are they driving too fast or too carelessly?
GPS devices are definitely not cheap, especially the smaller ones which can be attached to your child’s clothes. But the assurance of knowing where your child is at any given time is worth the expensive cost. Having a GPS tracking device is probably the best thing parents can have to ensure their child’s safety.
